Aberystwyth Arts Centre is to host the debut performance of Run Jack Run the latest musical, storytelling show by The Magical Illuminarium (The Mermaid & the Selkie) on Wednesday 4 May, 7.45pm. The show is a collaboration by local artists, Peter Stevenson (aka Mr Fox), Milly Jackdaw, Ailsa Mair Hughes and Pixy Tom. Most famous for his prolific work as a book illustrator Peter Stevenson imbues his stories with the rich imagery and detail of a true artists’ eye whilst Milly casts her theatrical enchantments. Together they tell two stories of the hunting of the hare, from the Welsh woods and the wild Lancashire hills, finding points of connection across time and space. Stories of deeply rooted traditions and superstitions, of beauty, compassion and redemption. One from the 9th Century, of Melangell, a girl who lived in the woods of the Pennant valley and protected the animals and trees around her, and another from living memory of a small, rufty tufty boy from Pendle Forest who followed in Melangell’s footsteps. Run Jack hare. Run from the hounds that bay at your heels, from the horses, the lords and the workingPerformer Peter Stevenson (Mr Fox). Performer Milly Jackdaw. Performer Ailsa Mair Hughes. Performer Pixy Tom.
