Adam Sunderland, is a cycling obsessive. For the last three years he has not missed a single televised live race. Son of a three-time Veteran World Champion Cyclist, his youth was mis-spent at the spokes of many professional riders and as a mechanic for several professional mountain bike teams. This production is a realisation of a life-long love of all things pedal-powered, and a touching story as one racing-cyclist recounts a life in lycra. A lone cyclist riding towards us looks back at his life, from his first ride without stabilisers to his first racer, riding tandem with his first love to crossing the finish line first and eventually hanging up his racing shoes. His trials and tribulations unfold before us as he taps out a rhythm. Every gearshift corresponds to a significant time of life, with mountains to climb, trials to be overcome and victories to be enjoyed. Using verbatim theatre, the thoughts and voices of cyclists (hobbyists, amateurs and professionals) will be collected and forged into a highly physical show. Duration: 1hr no interval
