This series of three digital performances is part of D SAXONY UK, a project by the Goethe-Institute in co-operation with the free state of Saxony. 1. Image Controlled Sound Nanospheres Viewing and manipulating the atomic world - exploring the nano world. The term 'nanotechnology' points to the immediate visualization, control and influence of matter. Focusing on the technology of programming as a form of art and as a means of research, Image Controlled Sound Nanospheres plays with the categories of sound and image. By deconstructing an object to its granular components, or nanospheres, the objectivity of the image is questioned. Image Controlled Sound Nanospheres explores the sonic structures that emerge from the transfer process. 2. Body Language (or The Illusion of Killing) A single sentence, delivered in linear form, is deconstructed; each word obliterated into infinitely small particles. On stage, a dancer conducts this new synthesized, granular language with movement, transmutating the language of the body into the sonic elements of speech, utterance and pure sound. The dancer becomes a magnifying glass for this new pixilated language, using movement to amplify its molecular form. 3. We Only Do What We Are Programmed For We Only Do What We Are Programmed For addresses a simple question: where does the human end and the machine begin? Is the body integrated in the machine or the machine integrated in the body? A network of choreographic structures performed by a dancer and commands issued by a computer connect through optical sensors and performative rules.
