The Hidden City festival takes the city of Plymouth as inspiration and invites you to places you've never gone before! Fascinating sites and buildings have been chosen, for their history, their architecture and the stories they hold. Well known and loved venues are opening up their hidden spaces and historic café, bars and restaurants are hosting play readings and cabaret. The regions finest writers and artists have created original performances for them all, leading you down secret streets, enticing you to unknown parts of the city and taking you into buildings you never thought to look at. Devonport Guildhall Hugh Janes, writer and Jules Laville, choreographer use the changing fortunes of Devonport to create a visual physical feast for the eye, mind and heart. Mayflower Sailing Club Shiona Morton, writer co-commissioned by the Drum and Bill Wroath, installation artist, lead you into a unique performance experience exploring the forces behind epic journey's across the sea and the people who make them. Catherine Street Peter Oswald, writer and Hugh Nankivell, musician, take you on an extraordinary journey down Catherine Street and invite you to piece together the traces of past, present and future in a scrambled city.
