Doris Day Can Fuck Off - Greg McLaren

Work:: Doris Day Can Fuck Off (S407396309)

Could you live your life as if in a Doris Day musical, in constant song? Performance artist Greg McLaren tried, spending two months singing instead of speaking. Greg's life descends into chaos, as society struggles to communicate with a man who lives his life, literally, in song. A fantastically moving and very funny journey that jolts between reality, imagination and light social self-harm, Doris Day Can Fuck Off is a daring one man opera that demonstrates the destructive and life-affirming consequences of stepping outside normal behaviour, into a life of melody, rhythm and potentially an ASBO..

Production:: Greg McLaren (T0686672270)

Singing in the street is not very popular these days, but the act of doing so is possily the most revealing thing anyone can do - it cuts to the quick and is a mode of communication too heady for most. Greg McLaren, founder of Stoke Newington International Airport puts performance into the world by replacing all speech with song for one week. He’ll be recording what happens, modifying it and then reporting back in a performance that is part travelogue and part one man opera.
