In December 2012 West Yorkshire Playhouse and Leeds-based theatre maker Pauline Mayers put a call out for people living in Burmantofts, East Leeds, to share their stories. As part of this search Pauline and her collaborators met all kinds of local people from many walks of life, each with a hidden story which they were generous enough to share. Created in collaboration with award winning poet and writer Rommi Smith and musician Simon Beddoe, the team at West Yorkshire Playhouse and the people of Burmantofts, BURMANTOFTS STORIES will see the community company recount their experiences in a vibrant outdoor performance blending spoken word, movement and music. This celebratory performance takes place outside Burmantoft's high-rise Shakespeare Towers.
