BBC Radio in association with the Albany and Apples & Snakes presents a celebration of the rhythmic and lyrical traditions of Africa in BLOODLINES, part of the Made in Deptford Festival. Hosted by Jonzi D, and featuring Malika Booker, Charlie Dark, Zena Edwards, Jan Blake and Tuup alongside the legendary drummer Marque Gilmore - they entwine their personal stories with the universal narratives of the diaspora, and entangle their own 21st century lyrical styles in the African rhythms of call and response. This is a live recording for BBC Radio 3 and is a free event.
