Production:: Slap and Tickle Fundraiser for Slapstick (T1237268520)
Legendary performers from the world of music and comedy have rallied to support Bristol's much-loved Silent Comedy Film Festival. This unique evening of music features platinum award-winning artists spanning four decades. The Blockheads, who performed with Ian Dury from 1977 until his death in 2000, will be joining forces with the mighty comedian and broadcaster Phill Jupitus on vocals (on 'Dury Duty'). Having recently celebrated their 30th anniversary and fresh from rave reviews at Glastonbury, the original band members and Phill Jupitus can't wait to hammer out hits including; Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Reasons To Be Cheerful, What A Waste and many more. Phill Jupitus says "This January I appeared at Watershed with Neil Innes as part of the Slapstick Festival. It is a great event to take part in, and almost completely unique in Britain's artistic landscape. I leapt at the rare chance to perform with The Blockheads and help raise money to ensure its continued existence." Actor and songwriter, Gary Kemp will also be appearing to perform an acoustic solo set of some of his biggest selling hits. As guitarist and songwriter for Spandau Ballet Gary was responsible for writing the lyrics and music of their 23 hit singles including such classics as True, Gold and Through The Barricades. Completing this fantastic line-up is doo-wop a capella sensations The Matinee Idles featuring celebrated actor Paul McGann and ex-members of DARTS.
