Disappointed to be told before show started that Martyn Knight was unwell and his part would be played by the author and director but we were really lucky as he was so good, funny at ad libs and mistakes, and we were full of admiration for him stepping in as understudy! I have been coming to the panto for years and the belly laughs set me up for the year. I have always enjoyed the rapport between Tucker and Martyn, but Chris was a fun change. The whole of the second half had me in stitches, not least the blow up scene. The cast obviously enjoyed themselves. Particular compliments to Carli Norris and very handsome Ashley Emerson with a lovely voice taking the happy uncritical atmosphere to their hearts. It was one good reason to cheer us all up and look forward to the next pantomime at the Devonshire Park for life after Covid!.
