The Secret Marriage

The Secret Marriage

Work:: The Secret Marriage (S2082)

The most popular of Cimarosa's fifty or so comic operas, The Secret Marriage received its second performance on the same night as the first. Leopold II enjoyed the opera so much, he gave the cast supper and commanded a full encore! Its wit and verve, which anticipate Rossini, have ensured that its popularity has never waned, and it is one of the few opere buffe of the period that has stood the test of time.
Author Cimarosa

Production:: (T991748988)

First performed by Opera North in 1993, this production is as pacy and intelligent as you would expect from Jonathan Miller.
