Details

The Sea and its Shore is a song cycle inspired by a short story by American poet Elizabeth Bishop about a beach comber's trawl for scraps of writing. Characteristically, Woolwich has assembled a melting pot of texts and references that forms a lament for the lone female 'frozen with pain' at the heart of the piece. The Sea and its Shore is one half of an evening which will also include work by Morton Feldman.
