Details

The Escape from the Seraglio is a romantic adventure, but Mozart gives the tale a human reality. Belmonte's love is touching and warmly felt, coming to life in the final duet when he is reunited with Constanze. Osmin the all-powerful bodyguard, has a deep-rooted cynicism for women and love, but succumbs to drink in the famous Vivat Bacchus'. Even the benign Pascha shows his basic instincts in his lust for Constanze.
