An Opera in two acts by Berlioz; text by the composer, after Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing. Messina, 1700. While the Hero looks forward to seeing her love Claudio on his return from the wars, his friend Benedict is greeted more sardonically by Beatrice. Gradually the love beneath their banter is disclosed, and they agree to marry, as do Hero and Claudio.
