Tim Etchells - A Broadcast/Looping Pieces

Tim Etchells

Work:: Tim Etchells (S01723558754)

Production:: A Broadcast/Looping Pieces (T01570575762)

An improvised text and performance by theatremaker, writer and Forced Entertainment Artistic Director, Tim Etchells. At the core of this solo work is a live remixing of pages from Etchells' notebook - a single sprawling word document in which, over many years, he has gathered fragments of text, ideas, overheard conversation, cut-paste quotations from newspapers and web pages, ideas for performances, rough drafts and other notes. For this performance, Etchells selects, intercuts and remixes material from these texts, creating a mesmerising and provocative torrent of language that often loops and repeats on individual lines, editing and re-writing on the fly, creating new dialogues and juxtapositions. Exploring archive and the processes of writing and gathering, A Broadcast / Looping Pieces is an improvised window on Etchells' creative process and the extraordinary transformative power of performance itself.

CORONAVIRUS: All venues in the UK were shut down on March 16, 2020, and the restrictions were finally lifted on July 19, 2021. It is important to mention that the UK Theatre Web archive listings (iUKTDb) from March 2020 to July 2021 might not be accurate due to the lack of information regarding rescheduled and cancelled shows.
