Details

Based on the life of opera star Mary Garden. Born in Charlotte Street, the Aberdeen lass with 'a guid conceit o' hersel' made a sensational debut in Paris in 1900 and for the next 35 years dominated the opera stages of Europe and America with her daring modern portrayals. From Debussy to Gershwin, they all surrendered to what Mary called 'The Illusion of Enchantment' which she created.
