As women march en masse across the world in protest at the Trump presidency and we approach International Women's Day on Wednesday 8 March, it has become an important time in history for women to make their voices heard. Dorset artist and performer Michele O'Brien, now caring for her elderly mother, began a year ago, to ask her mother the answers to the questions she had always wanted to know but didn't like to ask. Michele then embarked on a year-long project to encourage mothers and daughters to ask each other all the things they wanted to know before it was essentially too late. Accompanied by photographer Denise Poote, Michele worked with women and recorded the questions and answers to some comfortable and not so comfortable questions. Michele's research led her to create this resulting show exploring the relationship with her own mother, which she created in part at The Lyric last summer. We're delighted that she is bringing us the finished show which will be accompanied by an exhibition of the research and a free workshop for mothers and daughters the following day.
