On August 8th, 1998, Niall Ashdown set off with his father for a week's holiday in Hungary. This was, however, no ordinary trip. This trip was conceived, designed and organised for one purpose only - to watch birds. Hungarian Bird Festival is about that week on the Great Plains of Hungary. It is about an obsession. It is about 6 o'clock starts and heat-hazes. It is about group tours. It is about going on holiday with your Dad when you are 33 years old. But mostly, it's about birds and why everyone should love them.
