An Evening with Peter Sheringham - T1090168870

Join Peter Sheridan as he conjures up the memories and voices of his 1960’s childhood in Dublin. Forty-Seven Roses is a coming of age story, peopled with deliciously eccentric characters and bizarre incidents. Brilliantly funny and seriously moving, it pulls at all the emotions and evokes nostalgic memories to entertain and enthrall. Roddy Doyle on Peter Sheridan: He writes at the crossroads where hilarity and heartbreak, tenderness and savagery meet. The people who live there are often cruel, often magnificent, and always, always human. He captures them perfectly. Peter Sheridan is an acclaimed Irish playwright, screenwriter and director. He was one of the founder members of Project Arts Centre in Dublin and received the Rooney Prize for Literature in 1977. He has worked with Charabanc Theatre Company and the Royal Court for whom he directed his own plays, The Liberty Suit and Emigrants. He also directed the world premiere of The Shawshank Redemption at the Gaiety Theatre and Wyndhams. In 2000 he wrote the screenplay and directed the film Borstal Boy, based upon Brendan Behan's memoirs. His publishing credits include two books based on his family, 44: A Dublin Memoir (nominated for an Irish Times Literary Award) and Forty-Seven Roses
