Soho Storeys archiveBasement - The Jazz Club, Ground Floor - The Italian Espresso Bar, Next Door - The French patisserie, Upstairs - The Greek Barber, Third Floor - The Russian Tailors, Attic Flat - The Jamaican Aunties. Set in a 6-storey tenement, each level tells a different story of immigrant life in post war Britain. This sharp, witty show is underpinned by an impressive soundtrack that reflects the music of the time. Ned Bennet's authentic jazz score perfectly underscores the drama, noise and colour of the period, providing soaring soulful ballads and revved-up syncopated rhythms perfect for the frenetic chase sequences and dance routines of the piece. Celebrating their own pasts and looking to their own futures, the culturally diverse company lays bare the uncertainty and farce in the experiences of displaced peoples trying to belong.
