Reputation The Musical archiveThe late 1930s in Hollywood were a time when studios were having trouble meeting the seemingly endless demand for new talkies. Freddy Larceny is determined to take full advantage of this. He's running a scam to claim the work of new writers off as his own. When an aspiring novelist and student at a Paris women's college, Michelle Grant, answers his advertisement in a trade newspaper, Freddy has it made. Larceny plagiarises her script, getting a writer's credit for himself, and the film goes on to receive an Oscar nomination. This compelling new musical uses 25 original songs in the style of the mid-1900s most beloved lyricists to tell the story of Michelle's struggle to earn recognition for his stolen work. A captivating tale, loosely based on a true story that, for legal reasons cannot be discussed, highlights the female fight of equality and recognition.
