Plague! The Musical - Revised Version

Work:: Plague! The Musical (S1971990086)

Author David Massingham
Author Matt Townend

Production:: Revised Version (T01471518961)

Plague! The Musical originated from the twisted minds of a city banker, trying to escape the shame of his profession, and a penniless English teacher and it swept through the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe like a resplendent rash. Six-years in the making, Plague! The Musical is an off-beat comedy with colourful characters, a strong storyline and 11 catchy songs. It is reminiscent of childhood fairy-tale ‘Dick Whittington’, hit comedy shows ‘Blackadder’ and ‘Monty Python’, mixed together with a small spoonful of some of the leading West-End musicals. Once upon a time, long before Swine Flu, MRSA and Boris Johnson, Clive Hucklefish comes to London to seek his fame and fortune. After landing a job with a destitute undertaker, he falls in love with an evil Alchemist’s daughter and unwittingly starts the Great Plague! Business booms but, when the disease strikes too close to home, Clive realises he must take action before it’s too late! Featuring songs such as It’s Bubonic and Someone To Blame, Plague! The Musical is an outrageous and hilarious romp.
