Saw it in Birmingham 6.Nov 2015. It was extremely loud - tried putting tissue paper in my ears, found it still uncomfortable. I left at the interval 'cause wasn't enjoying it at all. 'Jesus' had long hair but fair - and no beard. SET - most disappointing at lack of effort - still had the blooming scaffolding balcony used for Barnum and the 2 platforms either side and stairs down, did have central staircase which moved - but otherwise it was just a big 'crown of thorns' that moved at times, and when the 'baddies' were coming on - reminded me of Boy George in the old day in their costumes, they'd just let down a big incense burner on a rope and change lighting. Amateur productions take much more trouble to create scenery and room sets, and change the views on the stage. Yet this is a big theatre costly tickets, and professional production ....? In 2nd half they crucified Jesus my friends watched it and said it was too gory for their liking 'cause . they used fake blood. The music has a good beat and I guess it was written in late 60's very early 70's by sound of it - but mega loud!
