Hillbrow archiveHillbrow, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1956, one of the most dangerous and exciting places on earth. Bert's cafe is a meeting place for residents and passers by of all races, ostensibly just a somewhat down-market eatery, but in fact the hub of Bert's illegal trade in dagga (marijuana). Jimmy falls in love with Rose, so does Abe and the stage is set for a dramatic finale.
