Details
Buchinger’s Boot Marionettes], which was last seen in London during the London International Mime Festival in 2007, makes its Barbican debut with The Armature of the Absolute, an anarchic and extraordinary celebration of the ground-breaking ideas of French writer Alfred Jarry, creator of one of literature's most outrageous characters, the murderous King Ubu. More than 100 years since his death in 1907, Jarry’s work still inspires and shocks. Buchinger's Boot Marionettes' universe is a chamber of wonders, a miniature fantasy land, distorting, disturbing, surreal and enthralling. The company works with objects and figures made of recycled material, bone and wood, plants, insects and animals to enlighten, please and horrify the eyes. The Armature of the Absolute is directed by Patrick Sims and is part of the London International Mime Festival.
