Life is tough for a little boy who not only has a girl's name but can't whistle either. To top it all, his mates have granddads to give them pocket money but he doesn't even have one of those. The boy's solution is to head to the old people's home to get himself a granddad. His chosen granddad is set on growing old disgracefully, and the two adventures steal cherries from the orchard and quickly cobble together a kite against the clock. A touching relationship builds up and the boy decides he must learn to whistle as a present for his grandfather's forthcoming birthday... Age 8-11 years
