Headline duties on the first night of PlayLouder shindiggery go to Sunderland's finest post-punk poster boy proposition, The Futureheads, best known so far for their ruinously ska'd First Day single but with hits-to-be aplenty in their set. Thoroughly sterling support too, via the more-than-capable hands of two of the most dazzling and distinctive singer-songwriters to have emerged in recent times, namely shattering chanteuse Carina Round (whose The Disconnection album is a cavalcade of fiery delights) and maverick manchild Patrick Wolf (whose own Lycanthropy collection is similarly bewitching).
