North Cregg

Work:: North Cregg (S4151920)

Since being voted by Irish Music Magazine as 'Best new band', North Cregg have taken Europe by storm. Featuring six of Ireland's finest young players. They fuse their blistering hot Irish 'trad' with sounds from Novia Scotia, Quebec and around the world.

Production:: (T1650689457)

The birth of North Cregg came about as a result of the informal pub session scene in Cork. They formed in 1996 and promptly took the support slot at the Cork Folk Festival. When veteran guitarist John Neville was asked to come up with a name for the band on the spot during a phone call to the festival director, the name North Cregg speedily came to mind. This was the title of a recently composed tune by a close friend of the band's uillean piper Jimmy Morrison. The tune was named after a small town near Fermoy, County Cork. North Cregg have gone on to release two albums and have played at several festivals around Ireland and all over the world. With their charged Sliabh Luachra polkas and Munster Reels, this lively and exciting group should not be missed.
