This tale of intrigue and corruption is based on the true account of 18th century French noblewoman, Jeanne de la Motte-Valois whose family have been stripped of their status and title by the king. In order to restore her honor to her name she becomes embroiled in an elaborate scheme involving the theft of a priceless necklace. This opulent costume drama was beautifully filmed in Prague and Versailles and stars Hilary Swank and Jonathan Pryce.
