The 1984 film adaptation of the award-winning play Another Country launched Rupert Everett and Colin Firth into the stratosphere. Rupert Everett played Guy Bennett, an openly gay pupil at an elite British boarding school in the 1930s who finds friendship with a classmate and fellow outcast Tommy Judd, played by Colin Firth. Everett's turn as Guy Bennett was a career-defining role, which enthralled audiences and propelled him to international stardom. Rupert Everett's originality and quintessentially English style of acting has inspired a whole generation and his influence can still be seen in many of the young, British male actors who are making waves in Hollywood today. 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the cinematic release of the British film classic ?Another Country' which featured Rupert Everett in his first starring role alongside Colin Firth. To mark this momentous occasion the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) will be holding a special screening of the BAFTA nominated film, on Friday 12 December, with Rupert Everett in attendance.
