Calm Down, Dear: A Festival of Feminism - Poke

Calm Down, Dear: A Festival of Feminism

Work:: Calm Down, Dear: A Festival of Feminism (S0961586804)

A festival of theatre and performance, cabaret, comedy, short films and lively discussion about feminism: what it meant then, what it means now, and why it's resurgent. There will be brand new shows, special commissions, input from leading feminist thinkers and provocateurs, and a critical eye turned on gender inequality, the sexualisation of society, everyday sexism, and much more. The last thing it'll make you do, dears, is calm down.

Production:: Poke (T01688026729)

This time A. would abandon ambivalence and - for the first time ever - take to the stage to say something true. And without the postmodern veil of irony! She would speak to the tragic state of womankind. But she fucked it up. Poke, a new spoken word piece with puppets and pop, is the confession of a failed feminist propagandist. Poke is the winner of the Arches Platform 18 Award 2013. Amanda is a US-born, UK-based performance maker, and from 2011-12 she was an artistic associate of the National Theatre of Scotland.
