Manovich has been working with computer media as an artist, computer animator, designer, and programmer since 1984. His art projects include little movies the first digital film project designed for the web (1994), Freud-Lissitzky Navigator, a conceptual software for navigating twentieth century history, and Anna and Andy, a streaming novel which uses Tolstoy's Anna Karenina as a script which drives a computer-generated re-creation of Warhol's Screen Tests. Plus the UK premiere of Soft Cinema - the automatic FJ (film jockey) which generates narrative films. | |

Described as 'one of the 21 people for the 21st century' by Esquire Magazine, John Maeda is Professor at MIT, director of the Aesthetics and Computation Group, and author of numerous books including Maeda @ Media. He has exhibited widely and has a forthcoming exhibition at Fondation Cartier in 2004. It is appropriate at the end of our Digital Festival to simply ask 'To Digital or not to Digital?'
