A rare opportunity to see two new performances by one of the key figures in performance art. Singing the Drawing Ydoolb Yadnus is based upon Stuart Brisley's original training in calligraphy and involves the vocal interpretation by Brisley and singer Edie Freeman of a drawing of repeated text. Different forms of the words - mirror imaged, upside down, back to front etc - prompt an extended range of vocal responses. In To Give the Voice a Voice the performer transforms his body into an instrument to encourage the voice to sing. Repetition, interruption, body language, memory speech, humour and stupidity provide the variables in this challenging performance.
