Ice skating in unique surroundings has become a mainstay of Christmas and the New Year in London and throughout the UK and this year a real-ice rink will open for its inaugural season in front of Manchester United Football Club s spectacular East stand. PWR Events Ltd and Manchester United Football Club are delighted to announce that the Manchester United Ice Rink will open on Saturday 26th November 2005 for a six week season. Situated in front of Manchester United Football Club s spectacular East stand, over looked by Sir Matt Busby, the real-ice rink will be housed within a clear domed structure. Though sheltered from the winter elements the rink will have clear view of the sky above and the backdrop of the stadium of the most famous football club in the world. So fun for all the family is guaranteed this year as the thrill and excitement of skating on a magnificent real-ice rink returns to Manchester over this Christmas and New Year! Karl Evans, Director of Venue at Old Trafford stated "The ice rink will be something new to Old Trafford. Situated right opposite the front of the stadium we believe it will be a great day out not only for fans but for people throughout Manchester and the North West. I m sure most people have had a go at ice skating at some time, and made fools of ourselves, and it is great fun. We will be up and running on 26th November and we re really looking forward to it." The ice rink will measure approximately 750 square metres and have a capacity of 240 people per hourly session. The ice rink cafe (no entrance charge) will be serving warming drinks and snacks for those wanting to take it easy and relax while watching others skate - passing the time sipping on hot chocolate or mulled wine and nibbling on a warming mince pie. Booking for the ice-skating sessions (hourly sessions accommodating 240 people) is open by phone and internet from Ticketmaster and at www.manutdicerink.com. Tickets, subject to availability, will also be on sale between 10am and 9pm at the Ice Rink when it is operational.
