Details

Military research into early warning systems has extended human perceptions dramatically in terms of distance, sensitivity and band width. However, obsolescence is never far away. The result is a landscape littered with abandoned devices; a strange architectural legacy above and below ground. Blackout is a multimedia work made in response to these artefacts, exploring relationships between military architecture, sensory activity, archaeology and a vernacular avant garde art. A special live event exploring electronic warfare complements the week long Blackout exhibition in the New Media Centre, and features Disinformation, Bruce Gilbert and special guests.
