Agu - T1641849749The fascinating contrasts and complexities of Brazil form the inspiration for Água. A joyous homage to a paradise of swaying palm trees, sultry jungles and stalking leopards from one of the greatest artists of the 21st century. During a long and distinguished career, the great German choreographer Pina Bausch, who died in June 2009, helped to redefine the parameters of contemporary dance with a unique and highly idiosyncratic brew of classical movement, burlesque humour and overt theatricality. Pina Bausch was quite simply an extraordinary force of creative energy. In Água, her charismatic and eclectic company of dancers transports you from beach to rainforest and then back again in a playful work brimming with joie de vivre. Complete with kissing competitions, dancers illuminated by fairy lights and men and women splashing each other with water bottles like kids on the beach, Água exemplifies all that is best in Pina Bausch's profound and playful brand of dance theatre.Choreographer Pina Bausch. Kontakthof - with Ladies and Gentlemen over '65' and Kontakthof with Teenagers over '14' - T01505568477Kontakthof is a place where people meet who are searching for contact. To show yourself, to deny yourself. With fears. Desire. Disappointments. Desperation. First experiences. First attempts. Tenderness and what arises from it was an important theme in the work. Another, for example, was circus. Showing part of yourself, to overcome oneself. Kontakthof was performed for the first time in 1978 in Wuppertal. Afterwards in many other countries. My wish, to see this piece, this theme Shown by Ladies and Gentlemen with more life experience grew even with time stronger. So I found the courage to give Kontakthof to elderly people over 65. People from Wuppertal. Neither actors. Nor dancers. Kontakthof was first seen in London as part of bite02. The show now returns in a poignant pairing with its counterpart created eight years later; it is the same choreographic work but performed by Teenagers. This is a rare opportunity to see both of these pieces side by side. The Kontakthof season at the Barbican is performed in memory of Pina Bausch (27 July 1940 - 30 June 2009) Running time: 180mins inclu. interval. Seniors: Apr10 1,3,4 at 19:15. Juniors: Apr10 2 at 19:15, Apr10 3,4 14:00Choreographer Pina Bausch. | |
