Scottish Ballet - Agon/Two Pieces for HET/The Pump Room/Artifact Suite

Work:: Scottish Ballet (S1162744014)

Company Scottish Ballet

Production:: Agon/Two Pieces for HET/The Pump Room/Artifact Suite (T883779407)

Agon is a milestone in the artistic collaboration between one of the most important choreographers of the 20th Century, George Balanchine, and the genius composer, Igor Stravinsky. First performed in 1957 by the New York City Ballet, this masterpiece continues to delight audiences worldwide combining the purity of classical ballet with a bold contemporary approach. Two Pieces of HET is a romantic and stylish duo created by Hans van Manen (Dutch National Ballet) in 1997. Performed to a haunting score, its refined simplicity is a great example of he beautiful style of 'the Mondriaan of dance'. Ashley Page's The Pump Room enthralled audiences and critics alike at His Majesty's Theatre in autumn last year and enjoys a welcome return. This highly charged work, set to a pounding score by Aphex Twin/Nine Inch Nails, shows dance at its most sensuous. Finally, William Forstyhe's Artifact Suite, tailored specially for Scottish Ballet, is unlike anything you have ever seen. Startlingly inventive, it will challenge your perceptions of what dance can achieve.
