Rumble has all the eloquence and passion Shakespeare intended for his Romeo and Juliet, infused with the frenzied energy of the urban spirit. The show employs a mixture of street and contemporary dancers for its tension-fuelled fusion of stunt dancing, hip-hop, and contemporary dance, cleverly turning the familial vendetta of the Montagues and Capulets into a gangland turf war. Its design, which uses mobile scaffolding and screens, morphs from inner-city hi-rise flats to balcony to dance hall and graffiti canvas. Rumble's nine dancers are accompanied by a score designed by Alexandru Calona, featuring beatboxing, sampling, saxophone, drums and cello.
