Richard Alston Dance Company

Work:: Richard Alston Dance Company (S901)

Contemporary dance. Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance.

Production:: Gypsy Mixture/Shimmer/Brisk Singing (T1665730174)

Gypsy Mixture - features the fervent music of Balkan gypsies remixed by contemporary DJs. Shimmer is danced to the sun drenched live music of Ravel. Brisk Singing is a revival of one of Alston's biggest hits of recent years. This buoyant and uplifting work is carried along by the music of the baroque genius Jean-Philippe Rameau. It is a wash of glorious movement, with limbs flung high nad wide in lunging, soaring space. This is an expansive and beautifully crafted work that is guaranteed to send you away with a smile.
