Production:: Alyssandra Katherine Dance Project/The Long and The Short of It Dance Company/Hannah K Vincent (T01008588540)

Obstruct & Connect - This work uses contact improvisation as a method to conduct a kinaesthetic conversation. It explores the outcomes that occurs when one person stops responding or initiating a dialogue. atma-graha - Attachment: Affection, fondness or sympathy for someone or something. Attachment can be both transient and permanent. Throughout our lives we form attachments to objects, people, ideas, places and moments. What happens when that bond of attachment is broken? When it is severed unexpectedly or the attachment is forced and unwelcome? This piece explores different types of instinctive and interactive patterns of attachment behaviour, through the medium of story telling, physical theatre, contact improvisation and text. Cymatics - Cymatics is the scientific study of visible sound typically demonstarated using a thin plate with a speaker underneath. Flour or water is spread on the plate and different geometrical shapes occur depending on the frequency. The music is inspired by the sounds of the universe which are manipulated and converted to sounds that can be heard as if on earth. The accompaniment is an amalgamation of sounds inspired by space and converted to allow it to be processed by the human ear. The piece is inspired by the art hidden within nature. Substance from things not acknowledged by the human senses. Sound from something seemingly silent and movement from something seemingly still. Duration: 85mins.
