Rambert Dance Company - Study from Blackbird/Hurricane/Living Toys/Ghost Dances

Rambert Dance Company

Work:: Rambert Dance Company (S887)

Britain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings.
Company Rambert Dance Company

Production:: Study from Blackbird/Hurricane/Living Toys/Ghost Dances (T02074944016)

The programme includes Jiri Kylian's sensuous duet Study from Blackbird that, like a blackbird's love song, resonates with emotion. Hurricane is a dramatic solo that tells the poignant story of Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter, the African/American boxer who was wrongfully imprisoned on a triple murder charge. Living Toys transports us into that precarious and surreal state where dreams and consciousness merge. Inspired by [Thomas Adès’]s dark and somewhat sinister score, this large-scale dance work promises to be a sensual and physically virtuosic spectacle. The ballet will be further enhanced by the live performance of the score by Rambert’s Associate Orchestra, London Musici. Ghost Dances - One of the great contemporary classics - a great favourite with audiences. Powerful, atmospheric and very moving. Grinning In Your Face is inspired by images of the American mid-west during the middle decades of the last century, and the music of virtuoso blues and folk guitarist Martin Simpson, the ballet is laced with emotional power and lyrical beauty that are hallmarks of Bruce's work.
