Rambert Dance Company - Constant Speed/Dark Elegies/Swamp

Rambert Dance Company

Work:: Rambert Dance Company (S887)

Britain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings.
Company Rambert Dance Company

Production:: Constant Speed/Dark Elegies/Swamp (T447975550)

Constant Speed - Celebrating the centenary of the publication of Albert Einstein's theory of relativity, Baldwin and designer Michael Howells have created a prismatic world of colour. This is the first work Baldwin has created for Rambert since becoming Artistic Director in 2002. Antony Tudor's Dark Elegies is a masterwork from the Rambert repertoire. Created in 1937 and performed to Mahler's Kindertotenlieder (Songs on the Death of Children), this emotionally charged ballet is a timeless exploration of grief and mourning. By contrast Swamp is a modern dance at the most pure. Echoes of Clark's classical background are very evident here, but this only acts as a foundation for his originality and inventiveness.
