Rambert Dance Company - Blackbird/Hurricane/Ground Level Overlay/The Parade Gone By

Rambert Dance Company

Work:: Rambert Dance Company (S887)

Britain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings.
Company Rambert Dance Company

Production:: Blackbird/Hurricane/Ground Level Overlay/The Parade Gone By (T01869348083)

Blackbird - New work . Hurricane - A dramatic work for a solo dancer performed as a complex narrative that interprets the lyrics to Bob Dylan's song, Hurricane. Bruce employs the traditional device of a Commedia dell'arte figure to relate the story in the third person and adopts a comic-strip style, enabling the solo dancer to play a variety of roles, including a policemen and a waitress. Ground Level Overlay - Created using the computer programme, LifeForms, this work must rank as one of Cunningham's finest. In it, beautiful sculptural formations emerge from blasts of activity and moments of calm stillness. Performed to a soundtrack of ten trombones, recorded in an enormous empty underground water tank, the music is enhanced by live musicians. The Parade Gone By - In a derelict film studio, a deranged director reminisces and conjures up a galaxy of ghostly stars including Valentino, Dracula and Fred and Ginger... but his fantasies soon spiral out of his control.
