An epic Hindu poem in Sanskrit, composed over two millennia ago, the Ramayana is one of the world's great stories and a wellspring of South Asian Culture. In this performance, 10 Indonesian dancers, accompanied by a gamelan orchestra, tell the story of how Prince Rama, aided by Hanuman the monkey warrior and his army, battles to rescue his bride Princess Sinta from the forces of the evil demon king Rahwana. The fate of the world balances between good and evil, order and chaos, virtue and corruption, loyalty and betrayal, love and death.
