The nation lindys, jitterbugs and polkas to the Andrews Sisters and in sharp contrast a generation is drawn into the hell of the Second World War. With its spirited can-can dances, Offenbach Overtures conjures up the joie de vivre of the Belle Epoch. Promethean Fire examines a kaleidoscope of human emotions. Breathtaking waves of dancers in black velvet perform to Leopold Stokowski’s striking orchestrations of pieces by Bach.
