Details
A collection of works by choreographer Joe Moran in Liverpool for the first time. Free public performances take place in and around the gallery including Moran's celebrated durational work Singular and the potent new duet Thirst. In the evening, a cast of seven exceptional dancers perform Moran's most recent group work On The Habit of Being Oneself. Distinguished dancers Leah Marojevic and Eve Stainton perform in Moran's work for the first time, joining trusted long-term collaborators Katye Coe, Samuel Kennedy, Christoper Owen, Alexander Standard, Pepa Ubera and Rosalie Wahlfrid-Shaw.
On The Habit of Being Oneself is an arresting dance experiment placing full-bodied dancing under the spotlight. On a stripped back stage dancers navigate complex choreographic puzzles through continuous, relentless dancing. The result is a challenging and refreshingly immediate encounter with dancers and dancing. Singular has been presented in galleries across the UK including Nottingham Contemporary, the ICA and most recently Kettle's Yard. In Thirst, two men navigate a complex, shifting terrain of power, submission, complicity and consent.
