Dance from the streets of South Africa. Experience the traditional township dance of Pantsula with breaking, hip hop and tap. Via Volcano are dancers from the Kagiso township outside Johannesburg. Together with British choreographer and hip hop icon Benji Reid, they fuse the traditional township dance of Pantsula with breaking, hip hop and tap. Pantsula is the dance of the streets and the crew’s style of dress - with baggy trousers and Converse sneakers - has become their trademark. Tuesday 5 October, 4.30pm - 6pm Zulu Dance - The Zulus are one of the most well known tribes in Southern Africa. Learn basic Zulu movement, focusing on the power and subtlety of this traditional dance form. Ages 14+. Wednesday 6 October, 4.30pm - 6pm Kwaito Dance - Emerging from the townships of Johannesburg, Kwaito is a mixture of house, rap and African rhythms popular in nightclubs across South Africa. Join this energetic Kwaito workshop and learn moves like kwasa-kwasa and twalatsa. Ages 14+
