Les Ballet C de la B - VSPRS

Les Ballet C de la B

Work:: Les Ballet C de la B (S01658198824)

Alain Platel founded Les Ballets C. de B. in 1984. A dynamic dance and theatre collective, the company is renowned for its powerful theatrical dance performances.

Production:: VSPRS (T267219383)

After the success of Wolf (the one with 14 dogs) in September 2004, Platel returns with his latest creation. A reinvention of Claudio Monteverdi's Maria Vespers, vsprs is a truly unique concoction of dance, theatre and music. For vsprs, he was inspired by the idea of improvisation and 'jamming'. What would happen if today's musicians were allowed to take Monteverdi's devotional music and improvise on it? Bringing together jazz, baroque and gypsy components, he does just that.
