Work:: Jan Martens (Belgium/Netherlands) (S0635187465)

Production:: Any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones (T367100714)

UK Premiere. In any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones, Jan Martens presents a production about the power that lies in being different. Performed by a 17-strong, unconventional corps de ballet of unique personalities. The diverse group spans generations, the youngest being 17 and the eldest 70, with differences in training and background. The dancers seek their own voice. One by one they claim their place on stage, without cutting off the others. They are supported by a soundtrack that consists of unconventional protest songs from different ages - including Polish composer Henryk Gorecki, jazz musicians Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln, and spoken word artist Kae Tempest.

CORONAVIRUS: All venues in the UK were shut down on March 16, 2020, and the restrictions were finally lifted on July 19, 2021. It is important to mention that the UK Theatre Web archive listings (iUKTDb) from March 2020 to July 2021 might not be accurate due to the lack of information regarding rescheduled and cancelled shows.
