Henri Oguike Dance Company - Shot Flow/White Space/Seen of Angels

Work:: Henri Oguike Dance Company (S02072899242)

Since he burst onto the scene in 1996, Henri Oguike has become a leading force in dance. Combining technical virtuosity with the immediacy of live music, his work has won numerous awards and given a creative blood transfusion to the world of contemporary dance. By turns thundering and gentle, visceral and flirtatious, the work of this dynamic young company.

Production:: Shot Flow/White Space/Seen of Angels (T0616335846)

A powerful new work which resonates with the primal rhythm of traditional Japanese Taiko drums. Stark in mood Shot Flow is a sinewy duet punctuated by the haunting tones of the marimba score by Pedro Carneiro. Scarlatti's bright and rhythmical pieces for harpsichord form the setting for White Space in which music, movement and visuals interplay. Sacred music and sublime movement unite the re-worked Seen of Angels, an elegant piece set to excerpts from [Handel's Messiah.
