English National Ballet - Apollo/Who Cares?/Double Concerto

English National Ballet

Work:: English National Ballet (S664)

One of the UK's leading Ballet Companies.

Production:: Apollo/Who Cares?/Double Concerto (T869662950)

Apollo - A neo-classical masterpiece exploring the mythological youth of the god Apollo who instructs the muses of poetry, mime and dance. Set to a thrilling Stravinsky score, Apollo was created by the legendary George Balanchine, the creative force behind the much-celebrated New York City Ballet and arguably the single most influential figure in 20th Century ballet. A striking and poignant ballet, not to be missed. Who Cares? is a dazzling homage to George Gershwin, the big band era and all the razzmatazz of the thirties. Featuring some of Gershwin's best known tunes including The Man I Love, S'Wonderful and I Got Rhythm, this is a brilliant balletic tribute to the genius of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers which will have you tapping your feet and asking for more. Double Concerto is a new ballet by the exciting young choreographer Christopher Hampson, who has already proven his talent with three one act ballets for English National Ballet and most recently with A Christmas Carol at London's Royal Festival Hall. The Daily Telegraph described h him as 'an invaluable choreographic asset' and his previous work has been described by The Sunday Times as 'delicious and dazzling'. The beautiful Poulenc score and ravishing tutus set the tone for what promises to be a stylish, musical and thoroughly classical ballet.
